A note on our mission, our co-founder, and our future
Leadership Letter
This report is a reflection of the agency that Stéphane and Chris co-founded 20 years ago.
It began simply: they wanted to create a business that did good in the world, one that didn’t just sell more stuff, but supported organisations with a genuine purpose.
That vision – born from late-night conversations and fuelled by a shared belief that design expertise should serve a greater good – became William Joseph. Named after their two newly born sons, the company was officially born in 2005. Today, their vision supports 16 families and has helped hundreds of charities.
Our commitment to our B Corp status is the legal, formal expression of this legacy. It ensures that the founding desire to balance people and planet with sustainable profit is embedded in our structure forever.
This past year has been one of our strongest in terms of impact, but it has also been our most challenging. On 6 September 2025 Stéph died, after a long battle with cancer.
This loss has shaped every aspect of our year and our operations. Stéph was a thoughtful, quietly radical man whose attention to detail and care for the team instilled the way we will do things forever.
Stéph created an environment where people felt safe to be curious, knowing that he cared about them more than the process. To disagree, to learn, and to keep getting better, is the bedrock of our company. That culture of mutual trust and respect is Stéph’s most enduring legacy and the foundation upon which we will continue to build.
The work within this impact report – from democratising access to our expertise to reducing our digital carbon footprint – shows that Stéph’s dedication to quality, integrity and social purpose continues to drive us.
We remain committed to a simple, powerful truth: to use our time wisely by working for, and alongside, people who charge your battery rather than drain it.
We move forward, carrying his ideas and quiet confidence with us, every single day.
– Chris and James
