We hear about their ambitions and the challenges they face. Often, those challenges are big and strategic – a perfect fit for the deep, collaborative projects we’re known for.

But just as often we hear about specific, frustrating problems that block progress: a homepage that’s trying to do too much, a funding application journey that feels clunky or a lack of confidence in whether a brand is working for everyone.

Our Intention

We reflected on this and realised our traditional project-only model was a barrier for many. It created a gap where organisations with a clear, specific problem couldn’t get the expert support they needed without committing to a large, long-term engagement. This wasn’t fully aligned with our mission to make high-quality strategic and digital support accessible to the sector.

Our goal was to find a new way to share our expertise by offering a more agile and focused way to help partners get “unstuck” and build momentum.

What we did

This year we developed and trialled a new model of support: a set of focused, diagnostic products.

Instead of scoping a full project this approach allows us to provide a concentrated burst of expert analysis on a single, defined problem. This could mean a specialist review of a homepage, a walkthrough of an applicant journey, or an audit of brand accessibility.

The outcome isn’t a long report but a short, practical list of quick wins and bigger opportunities that help teams to see their own work with fresh eyes and identify clear next steps.

The Impact and What’s Next

This new way of working allows us to support partners in a different way. It helps organisations make tangible progress between bigger projects, build confidence before a larger investment, or simply resolve a long-standing point of frustration.

We’re also transparent about the fact that this is only one part of the solution. We recognise that even at a lower price point, these services will still be out of reach for many smaller organisations. This is a challenge we continue to grapple with.

Because of this, we remain just as committed to sharing our expertise and resources freely. In addition to our free articles, events, and in-depth partnerships, we believe this new model is an important step in making our team’s expertise more accessible to the communities we exist to serve.
